Catalogue

Stemming from her 2013 film Provenance and published by Inventory Press, Catalogue extends Amie Siegel’s interest in tracing the circulation of modernism as commodity—in this case, furniture designed by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret for the planned city of Chandigarh, India, which had been deaccessioned, and later sold at auction. The book contains no text. Each spread is a scan of a spread from an auction catalogue, arranged chronologically, creating an inventory of the discursive strategies used by auction houses to frame and re-frame these historic objects.
