do it (archive)

Initiated by curator Hans-Ulrich Obrist, do it is an ongoing curatorial project driven by instruction-based works and their interpretation by other artists. Initiated in 1993, do it has been exhibited internationally in over fifty instantiations, and includes the work of more than 250 artists. In 2012 Independent Curators International began to archive the project, and commissioned Project Projects to conceptualize and design do it (archive), a traveling exhibition package that displays documentation from throughout do it’s history.

do it (archive) debuted as part of do it 20 13 at Manchester Art Gallery, presenting a chronological timeline of ephemera and documentation adjacent to the project’s most recent iterations.
