Founded by Project Projects principal Prem Krishnamurthy in September 2012, P! is a multidisciplinary exhibition space in New York’s Chinatown. Redrawing the boundaries between exhibition design, curatorial practice, and artistic production, P! focuses on experimental formats and spatial concepts that challenge the perceived neutrality of the gallery context.
Since its founding, P! has explored varied modes and timeframes for exhibitions and programs, going as far as to rename itself as K. for a series of shows on financialization in the art world. Participants have included Elaine Lustig Cohen, Karel Martens, and Brian O’Doherty, as well as Åbäke, Bec Brittain, Heman Chong, Leslie Hewitt, Christine Hill, HOWDOYOUSAYYAMINAFRICAN?, Oliver Laric, Margaret Lee, Sarah Oppenheimer, Walid Raad, Zia Haider Rahman, Amie Siegel, Slow and Steady Wins the Race, Wong Kit Yi, and others
