Project Projects: Test Fit
Project Projects: Test Fit

Curator Zoë Ryan commissioned Project Projects as part of a series at the Art Institute of Chicago in which architects and designers are invited to explore their own interests as a way to instigate new thinking and practices within and beyond their professional disciplines.

Project Projects: Test Fit presents a model of an exhibition, highlighting the unique formal and conceptual strengths a model may provide in curatorial and design practice—as a theoretical prototype, speculative work-in-progress, and an iterative space for pedagogical experimentation. Using a consistent format of printed facsimiles at a 1:1 scale, the installation reinforces the physical dimensionality of the original works, while encouraging viewers to consider exhibition design as a mode of creative and cultural expression in and of itself.

An associative thread of reactions, questions and thoughts included on each wall label playfully provokes viewers to look closer, and more carefully consider the historical and cultural context of each work.
