Soundings: A Contemporary Score catalogue
Soundings: A Contemporary Score catalogue

Soundings: A Contemporary Score was MoMA’s first major exhibition of sound art, curated by Barbara London. Its catalogue, as an object, is lightweight and designed for readability, recalling the materiality of a traditional musical score. Furthermore, its page layout features four narrow vertical columns, enacting the pace and rhythm of reading the musical staffs of modern sheet music. Its headers are typeset in Zigzag, designed by Fabian Leuenberger, a typeface which, in this context, evokes visualizations of sound waves.
