The Future Is Not What It Used to Be: The 2nd Istanbul Design Biennial catalogue
The Future Is Not What It Used to Be:
The 2nd Istanbul Design Biennial catalogue

As part of its participation in The 2nd Istanbul Design Biennial, titled The Future Is Not What It Used to Be, Project Projects designed the Biennial catalogue. Extending the Biennial’s investigation of the legacy and contemporary potentials of the design manifesto, the catalogue archives more than fifty projects from Biennial participants, providing a dense, content-rich overview of international manifesto-driven design practices. The book’s square shape references various manifesto publications from the mid-century, such as the catalogue for Bryan Robertson’s This Is Tomorrow (1956). Like many historical manifesto publications, the catalogue was designed to be affordable and accessible, in order to maximize the transmission of ideas.
