The Miraculous
The Miraculous

The first single-author book published by Paper Monument, Raphael Rubinstein’s The Miraculous contains fifty micro-narratives of incidents and events from the past five decades of contemporary art. Withholding the artists’ names until the end of the book, Rubinstein celebrates “the ingenuousness of these human activities,” dissociated from biography and context, which gives these strange occurrences a mythical aura.

The book’s design draws from the first American paperback edition of Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities (1974), adapting its use of the typeface Buster to number the book’s fifty stories and the wraparound cover art.
